Help for Anxious Children and Teens
Anxiety in children and teens is not uncommon. Whether due to world events, family discord, difficulty with peers, or troubling worries, children and teens often feel anxiety that they cannot manage or control.
Somatic reactions such as headaches, stomachaches, allergies, digestive issues, and exhaustion can all be related to stress as well as behavioral issues such as anger management and school refusal. It’s important to determine early on if a child is feeling stress or anxiety related to a specific event or cause – or if anxiety has become a way of life and the cycle spins out of control, impacting the entire family.
The Center for Counseling and Education can help. We have therapists exceptionally well-trained in modalities based on the most up-to-date research on anxiety-related issues and OCD. We also have educational classes for children and teens to help grow self-support, become more flexible, and develop and practice stress management and communication skills. In support of our services, we offer free parent workshops to address many of these issues.
Research strongly indicates that childhood anxiety left unchecked can lead to adult depression. Let us help you stop the cycle of stress as a destructive force for your child and your family. Together we can work toward inspiring safety and skill building!
